Three Team USA basketball players had to delay their celebrations following their gold-medal victory at the Paris Olympics due to drug testing.
During a “Boardroom Talks” event at Fanatics Fest over the weekend, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards disclosed that he, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry were subjected to drug tests after Team USA’s 98-87 win against France in the men’s basketball final.
“After the gold medal, I’m not gonna lie, me and (Durant) had a… what do they call it? A drug test? We had a drug test,” Edwards said. “We couldn’t even really celebrate in the locker room for real ’cause me, (Durant), and Steph had to take like a drug test or something.”
In the final, Edwards contributed eight points off the bench, Durant scored 15 points, and Curry led the team with 24 points.
This victory marked the fifth consecutive gold medal for the U.S. men’s national basketball team and their 17th overall in Olympic history.
