The Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers are among the select NBA teams preparing to host Bronny James for a pre-draft workout ahead of next month’s NBA draft, according to sources from The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Doug Haller.
James, who has received over 10 workout invites, plans to visit only a few teams.
The Suns, who hold the No. 22 overall pick, are considering James as a potential first-round selection, report Charania and Haller.
After just one season at USC, James declared for the draft in April. The 6-foot-1 guard posted averages of 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists across 25 games for the Trojans.
James has since improved his draft prospects with a solid performance at the combine, where he placed second in the 3-point star shooting drill and recorded the sixth-best maximum vertical leap at 40.5 inches.
Rich Paul, James’ agent, confirmed that his client will not be signing a two-way contract.
“Yes, that’s absolutely true,” Paul told Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes. “Teams know that. I’m not doing that.”
