Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby recorded an assist on Wednesday night, becoming the 10th player in NHL history to reach 1,600 career points.
Crosby, who reached the milestone during a matchup against the Buffalo Sabres, secured a secondary assist on Bryan Rust’s goal in the first period. At 37 years old, Crosby is the fifth-fastest player to reach the 1,600-point mark and is currently the only active player to do so. Among active NHL players, Alex Ovechkin trails Crosby with 1,553 points.

In April, Crosby moved into the top 10 on the NHL’s all-time points list, and he also became the 14th player in league history to register 1,000 assists during his career.
The center from Nova Scotia has recorded 19 seasons averaging at least one point per game, tying Wayne Gretzky for the most in NHL history.
Additionally, another former NHL player from Crosby’s home province of Nova Scotia, who played as a defenseman and amassed 1,274 points in 1,416 games, shared in the celebration of Crosby’s latest milestone.
Crosby has spent his entire career with the Pittsburgh Penguins and is signed with the team through the 2026-27 season.
