The Orlando Magic have officially signed center Wendell Carter Jr. to a three-year, $59 million contract extension, as reported by his agent to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Carter, who has two years remaining on his current deal, will remain with the Magic through the 2028-29 season.
Acquired by Orlando from the Chicago Bulls in March 2021, Carter averaged 11 points and 6.9 rebounds over 58 games last season. He was originally selected by Chicago with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
This offseason has been active for the Magic, who also extended the contracts of Franz Wagner and Jonathan Isaac. Key reserves Goga Bitadze, Gary Harris, and Moritz Wagner were also re-signed.
The team’s only significant free-agent addition was the signing of 3-and-D specialist Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
Last season, Orlando posted a 47-35 record and faced the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the playoffs, where they lost in a seven-game series.
