Osasuna halted Barcelona’s flawless start to the La Liga season with a decisive 4-2 win on Saturday.
Barcelona had entered the match with a perfect record, having won all seven of their opening games. However, Hansi Flick’s rotated lineup faltered in Pamplona, where Ante Budimir netted two goals and Bryan Zaragoza added another, dealing a significant blow to the Catalan side.
Pau Victor provided a moment of hope for Barca, scoring to reduce the deficit. But Budimir struck again from the penalty spot, and Abel Bretones sealed Osasuna’s victory with a long-range effort, bringing the score to 4-1. Lamine Yamal responded with a late goal, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.
A victory would have equaled Barcelona’s best start to a La Liga season with eight consecutive wins. Instead, they failed to extend their four-point lead over second-placed Real Madrid.
Barcelona will now turn their focus to Sunday’s Madrid derby, where they face third-place Atletico Madrid.
