Indiana Fever standout Caitlin Clark has been recognized as the 2024 Rookie of the Year, as reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Clark, a former Iowa star, led all rookies in scoring with an impressive average of 19.2 points per game. Additionally, she recorded a rookie-record 8.4 assists per game, while shooting 41.7% from the field and 34.4% from beyond the arc.
In her inaugural professional season, the 22-year-old broke several league records, including becoming the first rookie to achieve multiple triple-doubles. She also set a new single-season record for total assists with 337, which included a remarkable single-game record of 19 assists in a loss against the Dallas Wings on July 17.
Clark’s impactful performance played a crucial role in revitalizing the Fever’s season. Under her influence, the team transformed into a .500 squad, securing the sixth seed in the playoffs after concluding the 2023 season with a record of 13-27, which had placed them second-last in the league standings.
