The Memphis Grizzlies have officially waived Derrick Rose from their roster, as reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Rose, who signed a two-year contract with the Grizzlies prior to the 2023-24 season, had a guaranteed salary of $3.4 million for the 2024-25 season, according to Spotrac.
Sources indicate that Rose is expected to provide an update on his career later this week. Additionally, Ian Begley of SNY reports that the Grizzlies have agreed to release the veteran point guard from his contract.
In the previous season, the 35-year-old averaged eight points, 3.3 assists, and 1.9 rebounds per game across 24 appearances for the Grizzlies. His season was marred by injuries, including a back issue that sidelined him for more than a month before the regular season concluded. Rose also dealt with a lingering left hamstring injury that caused him to miss several weeks in December and January.
Derrick Rose, who was selected first overall in the 2008 NBA Draft, played his college basketball in Memphis, where he had a standout freshman season with the Tigers during the 2007-08 season.
