The New Jersey Devils have officially signed restricted free agent forward Dawson Mercer to a three-year contract worth $4 million per season, as announced by the team on Friday.
Mercer, who was the last unsigned player for New Jersey, had contract negotiations extend into the beginning of training camp. The 22-year-old’s entry-level contract concluded after the 2023-24 season.
Following this agreement, the Devils have approximately $976,000 in salary cap space, according to PuckPedia.
Last season, Mercer participated in all 82 games for the third consecutive year, recording 20 goals and 13 assists. The Devils originally selected Mercer 18th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft.
