Tuesday’s game for the Chicago White Sox was marked by another forgettable moment, adding to a challenging season. The team, already down 9–0, faced further turmoil when interim manager Grady Sizemore was ejected in the sixth inning.
The ejection followed a heated argument over a called strike against outfielder Andrew Benintendi. Sizemore, visibly upset, was thrown out of the game before leaving the dugout. He confronted home plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt on the field, expressing his frustration with what appeared to be a series of expletives and a passionate defense of his player.
Wendelstedt responded in kind, and the two exchanged heated words before another umpire and a White Sox assistant intervened to separate them. After the confrontation, Sizemore returned to the dugout and subsequently exited to the clubhouse, while Wendelstedt resumed his duties behind the plate.
