Brighton have secured the signing of Germany Under-21 international Brajan Gruda from Bundesliga side Mainz for £25 million.
The 20-year-old Gruda has signed a four-year contract with Brighton. Manager Fabian Hurzeler expressed enthusiasm about working with Gruda, stating, “I saw the big impact he made last season in the Bundesliga and he’s a player I admire a lot.”
Gruda made 28 appearances for Mainz last season, contributing to the club’s successful effort to maintain their top-flight status.
Before Euro 2024, Gruda trained with Germany’s senior team and was considered a potential call-up, but had to withdraw due to injury. He had been strongly linked with a move to Bayern Munich.
Gruda has represented Germany at various youth levels since he was 15 and has accumulated seven appearances for the under-21 team.
