The Nashville Predators have traded center Cody Glass, along with a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 sixth-round pick, to the Pittsburgh Penguins. In return, the Predators acquired forward Jordan Frasca, according to announcements made by both teams.
Glass, who carries a cap hit of $2.5 million, will become a restricted free agent in 2025. Standing at 6-foot-3, Glass had his most productive NHL season in 2022-23, recording 14 goals and 21 assists over 72 games with the Predators. However, his performance declined in the 2023-24 season, where he managed only 13 points in 41 games.
Originally drafted sixth overall by the Vegas Golden Knights in 2017, Glass was traded to Nashville in 2021 for Nolan Patrick following two injury-riddled seasons in Vegas.
This trade provides the Predators with some financial flexibility, as they were nearing the salary cap limit. Nashville still needs to sign restricted free agents Phil Tomasino and Juuso Parssinen.
For the Penguins, this trade pushes them close to the cap ceiling. It also marks their second trade on Tuesday aimed at increasing their draft assets, following a deal with the St. Louis Blues.
Frasca, 23, has spent the majority of the past two seasons playing in the ECHL.
