Cleveland Browns rookie defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. was arrested on Tuesday, charged with domestic violence following an altercation with his fiancée in which he allegedly threatened her with a firearm.
According to Avon Police, Hall was taken into custody and arraigned at Avon Lake Municipal Court. James M. Drozdowski, a public information officer with Avon Police, confirmed that Hall posted bond and was subsequently released. Hall was represented in court by attorney Kevin Spellacy, who has not yet responded to requests for comment.
The Cleveland Browns released a statement acknowledging the incident involving Hall, a second-round draft pick from Ohio State. The statement noted that Hall and his representatives are in contact with the relevant authorities, and that the team is currently gathering more information. The Browns declined to provide further comment at this time.
The incident report, obtained by The Associated Press, indicates that officers responded to a call at approximately 10 p.m. on Monday. The call was made by a woman who claimed that Hall had pushed her daughter and hit her with a baby bottle. The woman identified herself as Hall’s fiancée and said they share an 11-month-old daughter, though Hall is not the child’s biological father.
The report details that the altercation began during a discussion about financial support for their child. The woman alleged that Hall, 21, became increasingly agitated, threw her belongings outside, and dragged her along the porch and driveway. She also reported that Hall put a gun to her temple, stating, “I will (expletive) end it all. I don’t care.”
The woman did not seek medical treatment following the incident.
The report further states that Hall locked the woman out of the house and left the scene in a pickup truck. Police documented evidence including a damaged door frame and a hole in a door, allegedly caused by Hall punching it. Officers also seized two firearms from the scene: a .40-caliber Glock and a 9mm Smith & Wesson.
The Browns did not hold practice on Tuesday, as players were only engaged in treatment and workouts at the team’s training facility in Berea, Ohio. The team is set to host the Minnesota Vikings for joint practices on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by a preseason game on Saturday.
