Vinicius Junior, the Real Madrid winger, is reportedly considering a significant offer to join the Saudi Pro League (SPL) this summer, according to ESPN’s Gustavo Hofman and Alex Kirkland.
The 24-year-old Brazilian has not yet ruled out the possibility of moving to the Middle East. His representatives recently met with SPL officials, discussing an annual salary that could reach up to €350 million.
Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which controls 75% of the country’s four largest football clubs, is reportedly keen on including Vinicius in their plans to promote the 2034 World Cup, which Saudi Arabia hopes to host. PIF has also held discussions with Real Madrid about a potential transfer.
However, Real Madrid prefers to retain the player, and no formal offer has been made. Vinicius, who contributed 24 goals across all competitions in the previous season, played a key role in Real Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League victories.
One major obstacle to the transfer is the €1-billion release clause in Vinicius’ contract. According to ESPN’s sources, Real Madrid would need to accept an offer below this clause for the transfer to proceed.
