Kaliq Lockett, a top-25 recruit and four-star wide receiver, has officially committed to the University of Texas, choosing the Longhorns over a competitive field that included Alabama, Florida State, LSU, and Texas A&M. Lockett announced his decision on Wednesday.
Ranked as the No. 23 overall recruit in the 2025 class by ESPN, Lockett is also recognized as the fourth-best wide receiver in this recruiting cycle. The Texas native’s commitment marks a significant addition to the Longhorns’ 2025 recruiting class, as he becomes the highest-rated recruit for the program this year. With Lockett’s pledge, Texas now boasts 11 four-star recruits for the 2025 class, according to ESPN.
“It’s hard to say no to your home state,” Lockett said, as reported by On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “Especially if it’s a school you’ve been liking. You’re from the state of Texas and everyone talks about them.”
