The Cleveland Cavaliers are set to extend center Jarrett Allen on a three-year, $91 million maximum deal, as confirmed by his agent to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. This new contract builds upon the end of his previous deal, bringing Allen’s total earnings to $131 million over the next five seasons.
Allen has been with the Cavaliers for the last three and a half seasons after starting his NBA career with the Brooklyn Nets. Last season, he achieved a career-high average of 16.5 points per game, along with 10.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists while sharing the frontcourt with rising star Evan Mobley. His defensive skills were also recognized, finishing 10th in the voting for Defensive Player of the Year.
This marks the third significant extension for a Cavaliers player this summer, following agreements with Mobley and Donovan Mitchell. The Cavaliers aim to build on a successful 48-34 campaign from the previous season, during which they secured their first playoff series victory since LeBron James was with the team.
