The Memphis Grizzlies are re-signing sharpshooter Luke Kennard to a one-year contract worth $11 million, according to sources reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Kennard has spent the past season and a half with the Grizzlies after previously playing three years with the Los Angeles Clippers. He boasts a career 3-point shooting percentage of 43.9% and has maintained at least a 44% success rate from beyond the arc for four consecutive seasons.
Injuries plagued Kennard last season, as he missed 43 games primarily due to a persistent knee issue.
The Grizzlies acquired Kennard to enhance spacing on the court alongside superstar point guard Ja Morant. During his time with Memphis in the 2022-23 regular season, Kennard recorded an impressive 54% shooting percentage from three-point range across 24 games.
The Grizzlies are aiming to improve after a decline in their standings last season. The team utilized 33 different players throughout the campaign, with Kennard, Morant, and starters Desmond Bane and Marcus Smart each sidelined for at least half of the year.
