The Chicago Bears are signing wide receiver DJ Moore to a four-year, $110-million extension, including $82.6 million guaranteed, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Moore had two seasons left on a three-year, $61.8-million extension he signed with the Carolina Panthers during the 2022 offseason. Chicago acquired him in March 2023 in a trade that sent last year’s No. 1 overall pick to Carolina. The Panthers used that selection on quarterback Bryce Young.
Moore’s new contract is the largest in Bears history, as noted by Schefter. He’s now signed through 2029.
The 27-year-old set career highs with 96 catches, 1,364 yards, and eight touchdowns in 2023, his first year with the Bears. He has topped 1,000 yards in four seasons since being drafted 24th overall in 2018. He hasn’t missed a game in the last three campaigns.
Moore leads a strong Bears offense in 2024. After drafting quarterback Caleb Williams first overall this year, Chicago added significant weapons, trading for wide receiver Keenan Allen and using a top-10 selection on Rome Odunze.
Wide receivers have been signing lucrative deals recently. Moore’s new $27.5-million average annual salary now ranks seventh at his position, according to Spotrac.
Justin Jefferson tops all wideouts with a salary of $35 million per year. The Minnesota Vikings star was one of three wide receivers this year who signed a contract worth at least $30 million per season, along with A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles and Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions.
