Pittsburgh Pirates rookie pitcher Paul Skenes faced the challenge head-on during Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game, where the National League fell 5-3.
At just 22 years old, Skenes became the sixth-youngest pitcher to start the Midsummer Classic. He navigated a scoreless first inning against formidable opponents, including Steven Kwan, Gunnar Henderson, Juan Soto, and Aaron Judge, yielding only a walk to Soto in 16 pitches.
Following his performance, the Baseball Hall of Fame acquired Skenes’s cap as a commemorative piece. Additionally, they obtained the cap of Chicago Cubs rookie Shota Imanaga, marking his debut as one of few Japanese-born pitchers in the All-Star Game.
Furthermore, the jersey worn by Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran, who clinched MVP honors with a crucial two-run home run, will also find a place in Cooperstown.
The American League’s victory extends their dominance, securing their tenth win in the last eleven All-Star Games.
