Keegan Bradley has been appointed as the captain of the United States’ team for the 2025 Ryder Cup. The announcement was made on Monday by the PGA of America.
“I am proud and excited to name Keegan Bradley as captain of the 2025 United States Ryder Cup team,” said PGA of America president John Lindert. “Keegan’s past Ryder Cup experience, strong relationships, and unwavering passion for this event will prove invaluable as he guides the U.S. team over the next year and a half.
“We are confident that with Keegan at the helm, the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup team will compete at Bethpage with the same confidence and determination that has defined his career.”
The decision to select Bradley followed Tiger Woods declining the opportunity, according to Sports Illustrated’s Bob Harig. Woods, who served as a player-captain during the U.S. victory at the 2019 Presidents Cup and has twice been an assistant captain, was the initial choice.
Bradley has previously represented the U.S. in both the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup three times, with his last appearance in 2014. Despite a strong PGA TOUR season, he was not chosen as a captain’s pick for the 2023 Ryder Cup in Italy, a decision he found disappointing.
“My passion and appreciation for golf’s greatest team event have never been stronger,” Bradley said. “The Ryder Cup is unlike any other competition in our sport, and this edition will undoubtedly be particularly special given the rich history and enthusiastic spectators at this iconic course. I look forward to beginning preparations for 2025.”
The United States lost the 2023 Ryder Cup 16.5-11.5 under captain Zach Johnson.
Luke Donald will return as the captain for the European team in 2025, following his leadership in their victory last year.
