Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets are reportedly finalizing a four-year, $209-million maximum contract extension, according to sources cited by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
In other team news, guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is opting out of his $15.4-million player option for the 2024-25 season to enter free agency, as reported by Charania and Tony Jones.
Both players were instrumental in the Nuggets’ 2023 championship victory.
This past season, Murray posted averages of 21.2 points, 6.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 1 steal per game over 59 appearances. Caldwell-Pope contributed with averages of 10.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.3 steals across 76 games, shooting 40.6% from three-point range and making 1.6 three-pointers per game.
The Nuggets were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs this past season by the Minnesota Timberwolves. In the recent draft, Denver selected former Dayton center DaRon Holmes II in the first round.
