Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement in principle to trigger the £5 million release clause in Barcelona teenager Marc Guiu’s contract.
The Blues are preparing to conduct a medical for the 18-year-old striker in London, pending finalization of the transfer.
Barcelona attempted to negotiate an extension with Guiu to remove the release clause, but after discussions with his agency, Chelsea are nearing completion of the signing of the Spain Under-19 international to strengthen their attacking lineup.
A product of Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy, Guiu made a memorable debut by scoring just 23 seconds into his senior career against Athletic Bilbao in 2023.
Guiu, known for his strength and speed as a number nine, has limited experience with two goals in seven senior appearances so far.
While Guiu is expected to join Chelsea’s first team, the club remains open to additional attacking reinforcements this summer.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s 18-year-old Omari Kellyman is also set to join Stamford Bridge for £19 million on a five-year deal, with an option for an additional year, following the completion of his medical this week.
