Angel Reese continues to make headlines in her rookie season with the Chicago Sky. In Thursday’s game against the Dallas Wings, Reese secured her seventh straight double-double, contributing 16 points and a career-high 18 rebounds in the Sky’s 83-72 victory.
Reese’s impressive performance not only led the Sky to a much-needed win after four consecutive losses but also established her as the first WNBA rookie to achieve seven consecutive double-doubles.
Last week, Reese reached a career-high 20 points in a game against the Connecticut Sun, marking her fourth consecutive double-double streak. Her consistency surpasses the previous record held by Tina Charles and Cindy Brown for most consecutive double-doubles by a rookie.
Reflecting on her record-breaking achievement post-game, Reese expressed her joy at the team’s victory and her satisfaction with her individual performance.
“I have so much more to grow, and I’m just excited to be in this league,” Reese shared in an interview with ESPN.
Reese’s impact extends beyond statistics, as she continues to solidify her role as a pivotal player for the Sky, contributing an average of 12.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game this season.
Ahead of Thursday’s game, Reese showcased her admiration for Chicago sports icons, appearing in a pregame outfit paying homage to Michael Jordan.
Following this win, the Sky hold a 5-9 record, currently placing ninth in the league standings. Their next challenge comes against the Indiana Fever on Sunday, in what promises to be another competitive matchup.
