The situation between the San Francisco 49ers and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk appears strained as Aiyuk hinted at a contract dispute in a recent TikTok video.
In the video, Aiyuk spoke to Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, stating, “They said they don’t want me back.”
Entering the final year of his rookie contract, the 26-year-old receiver seeks an extension, but negotiations with the 49ers have reportedly hit a snag. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, talks have “stalled a bit.”
Aiyuk opted out of both offseason training activities and mandatory minicamp, which could lead to fines totaling up to $104,259.
Reportedly using Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown’s recent four-year, $120.01-million extension as a benchmark, Aiyuk and the 49ers were not close to an agreement prior to St. Brown’s deal.
Despite the contract uncertainty, Aiyuk achieved career highs in 2023 with 1,342 receiving yards and an average of 17.9 yards per reception. His 75 receptions led the 49ers last season.
