Taylor Swift’s upcoming “Eras Tour” has led the NFL to adapt its 2024 season schedule to accommodate her concert dates in various stadiums across the United States and Canada.
According to NFL vice president of broadcast planning Mike North, Swift’s U.S. tour dates necessitated consideration during the scheduling process. The singer is slated to perform at Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins, from Friday, October 18, through Sunday, October 20. Following this, she will hold consecutive shows at the Caesars Superdome, the New Orleans Saints’ home field, from Friday, October 25, through Sunday, October 27. The final leg of her U.S. tour concludes at Lucas Oil Stadium, the home of the Indianapolis Colts, from Friday, November 1, through Sunday, November 3.
To accommodate Swift’s performances, the NFL arranged for specific team matchups and locations. Notably, the Miami Dolphins will play the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7 (Sunday, October 20), the New Orleans Saints will face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 8 (Sunday, October 27), and the Indianapolis Colts will meet the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9 (Sunday, November 3).
Swift coincidentally has concert dates in Toronto at the Rogers Centre, home of the MLB’s Toronto Blue Jays, from November 14 through 16 and November 21 through 23. During Week 11, the Kansas City Chiefs, led by All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce, will play against the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium on Sunday, November 17, at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS, aligning conveniently with Swift’s availability for attendance.
North refutes any intentional scheduling decisions based on Swift’s tour, attributing the proximity of the Chiefs vs. Bills matchup to “pure coincidence,” as reported by the Boston Globe.
Swift, known for her widespread fan base and global popularity, continues to influence various industries, including sports and entertainment, with her concert schedule impacting the NFL’s planning for the 2024 season.
