Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs returned for game 2 after being carted off the court Monday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers with a strained left knee.
Suggs got injured with 4:02 remaining in the opening period of Orlando’s loss, colliding with Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell’s left leg while attempting to steal the ball.
The impact left Suggs writhing in pain on the court, prompting immediate concern from his teammates and coaching staff. Following a timeout initiated by the Magic to assess his condition, Suggs, visibly shaken, required assistance to leave the court, unable to put weight on his injured left leg.
Initially labeled as questionable to return, Suggs was back on the court with a sleeve on his leg for the second half.
Despite the adversity, Suggs showcased his tenacity and commitment to the game, delivering a gritty performance on both ends of the court. While his statistics may not have matched his usual output, Suggs’ presence provided a much-needed boost for the Magic as they battled against the Cavaliers. He ended the game with 9 points on 2-of-5 shooting, along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
Suggs, averaging 12.6 points on 47.1% field goal shooting during the regular season, is Orlando’s third-leading scorer and a key defensive guard.
