Philadelphia Eagles’ cornerback Isaiah Rodgers, who faced a season-long suspension for violating the NFL’s gambling policy, received reinstatement on Tuesday.
The NFL announced that Rodgers, aged 26, is now eligible to participate in team activities with immediate effect.
Rodgers joined the Eagles in August 2023, following his release from the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts parted ways with him shortly after the NFL suspended Rodgers and two other Colts players indefinitely for their involvement in gambling on NFL games during the prior season.
Since the 2022 season, the NFL has suspended at least 12 players for gambling-related infractions. This includes the season-long suspension of wide receiver Calvin Ridley, who was reinstated in March and now plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Last April, five players, including four from the Detroit Lions, were suspended for gambling-related offenses.
Isaiah Rodgers, a 5-10, 176-pound cornerback, was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of UMass.
During his tenure, Rodgers has appeared in 45 games, starting in 10 of them. He has accumulated 88 tackles, deflected ten passes, and secured three interceptions.
Rodgers has notably excelled in special teams, showcasing his talent as he became only the sixth rookie in Colts history to return a kickoff for a touchdown. His outstanding performance earned him recognition with PFWA All-Rookie honors during the 2022 season.
Throughout his career, Rodgers has maintained an impressive average of 27.0 yards per kickoff return. With the introduction of new kickoff rules set to debut this fall, Rodgers is poised to further showcase his skills and contribute significantly to his team.
